Wide Hive Records is an independent record label based in Berkeley, California founded by Gregory Howe.  Wide Hive is dedicated to the production of distinctive and transcendent music most often in the form of jazz and funk but hip hop, rock and soul are often caught interweaving themselves together on many cuts or their own albums.

Howe started Wide Hive in 1998 in San Francisco’s Mission district before relocating to the East Bay.  Since its inception, Wide Hive has generated over thirty albums with artists like Calvin Keys, Phil Ranelin, DJ Zeph, Azeem, Larry Coryell and Harvey Mandel.

Between 2001 and 2010 Wide Hive had five top ten placements on CMJ (College Music Journal) with DJ Zeph, Variable Unit Seven Grain, Variable Unit Handbook for the Apocalypse, Variable Unit Mayhem Mystics and most recently, Wide Hive Players II Guitar.
